Top Entrance Solutions for Front Door Security

Security is needed throughout your business's premises, but your front door should be where you pay particular attention to your security needs. There are many different types of doors on the market that offer varying levels of security. What may work well for one business may not for another, so it is important to have an understanding of what’s out there to ensure you can make the right choice for your business.

Revolving Doors

Revolving doors were originally created as a simple solution to allow more than one person through an entryway at once. Over the years, the traditional revolving door has evolved into a staple of almost any business’s front door security. While some still operate manually, many modern revolving doors are automatic. Not only does this allow an easier flow of people in and out of the building, but it means the doors become inaccessible when power is cut off, such as at night when a business is not open.

Naturally, there is still the risk of someone attempting to break in by force, but unlike a standard door, a revolving door features multiple barriers and screens. Each is made to withstand heavy impacts, meaning unauthorised access for anyone is extremely difficult.  There are also many exciting innovations that have come about in recent years for revolving doors. For example, some revolving doors can be installed to generate electricity when the door’s axis is spun, meaning you can place your business as one that not only puts security as a top priority but the environment too.

Security Doors

Security doors allow your business to easily control the flow of pedestrians, but they can also do so much more. Advances in technology have allowed security doors to be fitted with additional security features, including sophisticated sensor technology, automatic detection, weight systems, and biometric identification systems. Not all businesses will require such high levels of security, but if you work in a bank, data center or government building, for example, security is paramount. If only the highest levels of front door security will do, then security doors are an excellent option.

Full-Height Turnstiles

While typically used for outdoor security, there are many instances where an individual’s first point of access to your business will not be the building’s door itself. A full-height turnstile is a great way to provide access to a building’s grounds. These types of secure doors typically operate manually, and come with a varying number of wings depending on the level of security and expected flow of people.  The material used can also vary. Traditionally, full height turnstiles are made from either stainless steel or aluminum, but more modern designs, such as the Turnlock 250, can be built from an even stronger material known as polycarbonate. High-security front door options made from this material are becoming increasingly popular, due to the fact that they are shatterproof as well having a high impact resistance.
